With roots in the restaurant business, the owners of Houston Uniform & Apparel Company understand the importance of quality custom uniforms and apparel at a competitive price.
Vicki Pappas Giannukos founded the company in 1979 to serve her family's growing restaurant business, the Pappas Restaurant chain, with custom-made aprons for the wait staff. With her design background and business insights, Vicki expanded Houston Uniform & Apparel to become a full-service custom uniform company.
She helped design unique uniform looks to differentiate the various Pappas concepts, including Pappasitos and Pappadeaux, from the competition. The uniforms became a key part of the service and excellence for which the family's restaurants are known.
As the company expanded, more customers benefited from the in-house custom design, manufacturing and embroidery - and the fastest turn-around times in the industry.
That family tradition of quality continues today with Vicki's son, John Giannukos, who has owned and managed the company since 2001. With a background in investment banking and the restaurant business in his genes, John has guided the company's rapid growth while maintaining excellent service.
Still based in Houston, the company serves industrial, restaurant, hospitality and corporate customers across the U.S. Houston Uniform and Apparel has invested in modern new machinery and equipment to give its expanding customer base the very best in custom design, screen, embroidery, manufacturing and tailoring services. Its proprietary My Company Store software gives customers web-based accounting and order fulfillment.
The family also owns Houston-based Accent Sign and Awning, which provides custom electric signs and awnings. As with Houston Uniform & Apparel, customer service, on-time delivery, and quality products separate Accent Sign and Awning from others in the industry.
Operating in a 40,000-square-foot facility, Accent Sign and Awning offers complete turnkey design, production, permitting and installation services - all in one shop. Learn more.
